Great projects begin with a dream, in the mind of someone who has the ability to spread their desires to the world and create unique scenarios in which we can all be happy🌺 Thank you Rouss Ramirez! ❤
Rouss Ramírez, director of We Love Our Town, AC, had a dream…
He dreamed that the magical town of Todos Santos would recover the tradition of the Day of the Dead; that this town that he loves so much would become a destination for national and foreign tourists to live together in that very Mexican festivity; that the entire population of all of Antigua would participate decorating altars and facades, remembering their family and friends who came before us; showing the beauties of our region to its visitors. Rouss dreamed of bringing recognized artists from our beloved Mexico to these emblematic dates in order to attract visitors for the benefit of hotels, shops, restaurants and, in general, that the town is favored with an event made by and for it. But above all, he dreamed of an event that would also raise funds to support children, the elderly and vulnerable people with serious illnesses in our community.
This is how WE LOVE OUR PEOPLE AC was born, which is the effort of many who have been joining this noble cause with no other interest than helping their neighbor and Todos Santos. Rouss is no longer alone and it is not a dream either, it is a reality that she undertook and that has been consolidated thanks to many people of good will who walk shoulder to shoulder with her, in this adventure that bears fruit and has achieved the smile of the more unprotected.
Sponsors, church, authorities, national and foreign civil society; friends all, come together in these parties for a common purpose in the framework of an event of great national importance.
Five of that dream have passed. We already had Tania Libertad (2017), the Unique and International Sonora Santanera (2018), Emmanuel (2019), in 2020 we started the tradition in the square of making the main altar due to the COVID 19 pandemic, so that All the people and visitors will take their photo and their offering, which we will have this 2021 as well as a contest for altars, catrinas, photography and rugs where everyone can participate.
We have enjoyed catrinas, mascots and their characterizations, drums, parades, gastronomy, altars, music, dance and a long list of activities that have undoubtedly left us with unforgettable memories.
Looking ahead and with a heart that drives us, we will do our best so that each year is better and more people benefit. Every time we manage to support our peers, we confirm that so much work has been worth it and that we must continue on this path.
She is Rouss Ramírez and there are many of us who make this annual event a reality. The children of all years ago are learning to love this tradition, the future is in their hands. Rouss's dream has already awakened many more of us...
